This was one of Cambridge Link-Up’s first projects – a memorial garden created from an area of scrubland at the back of 222 Victoria Rd Hostel.

With the support of Streetsmart, the Cambridgeshire Foundation, Travis Perkins, Marshalls Paving and a dedicated team of homeless volunteers who worked incredibly hard- we now have a landscaped garden including a water feature, lighting, paving, fencing and 6 railway sleeper pillars which l bear individual brass name plaques commemorating the lives of homeless people who have died in Cambridge in recent years …

Hostel residents worked with ceramic artist, Emma Fenelon, to create the Sanctuary Tower for the garden as part of a project in partnership with Wintercomfort for the homeless.

This garden is a respectful and dignified place where homeless people can process their grief and remember lost loved ones.

Please visit the Online Memorial Garden where there are pages for each person remembered in the garden and  you are welcome to add your own memories and tributes.
